Description:
Under the direction of Manager, Systems Engineering, supports all NYPL systems relating
to web, financial, email, security, and infrastructure services. Aids in determining technical
needs for deploying new services. Will provide technical support to Web Developers and
Database Administrators. Provides technical support for numerous servers and
applications used in NYPL's Internet and Bibliographic architecture, PeopleSoft systems,
Lotus Notes messaging system, and co-location business. Support all library web
initiatives. Responsible for ensuring system security and system documentation. Will
provide after hours and weekend support as required. Performs related duties as required.
Eligibility Requirements:
Bachelors degree in computer related field such as Computer Science or Information
Systems or a strong combination of education and relative work experience. Successfully
demonstrated experience administering Unix and Windows based computer systems.
Demonstrated ability to install, configure, tune, backup/restore, and troubleshoot computer
hardware and software. Strong knowledge of current web technologies (web servers,
programming, application servers, load balancing, LAMP, Java, databases, programming
etc.). Experience managing enterprise infrastructure, including AD, DNS, DHCP, E-Mail
(Domino preferred), financial systems, patch management, and system security.
